When “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” was finally released in the year 1994 its mastermind Øystein ‘Euronymous’ Aarset was not able to witness this album to become the single most important release and template for the rising Norwegian Black Metal scene. Euronymous had been perfidiously killed by Kristian ‘Varg’ Vikernes (BURZUM), who had played bass on “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas”. Subsequently his role was diminished by reducing the level of bass in the mix. “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” remains as Euronymous’ legacy and has received homage in form of cover-albums and songs be picked up by other giants of the genre such as EMPEROR, GORGOROTH, LIMBONIC ART, KEEP OF KALESSIN or IMMORTAL. An important aspect of the album’s outstanding significance are the enigmatic and occult vocals of Attila Csihar. All that the Hungarian, who has meanwhile returned to join MAYHEM once more, ever received for his essential contribution to “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” was a personally made copy of its rough mix – featuring the original bass sound as it was intended to be. Now Attila shares his treasure with the most die-hard MAYHEM fans by releasing it in this special and limited edition entitled “Live Eternal” accompanied by his very own liner-notes.
